Our Beliefs
About the Bible
We believe the entire Bible, Old and New Testaments, in the original autographs, to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God. Therefore, the Bible is the highest doctrinal authority for Northwest Church.
About God
We believe there is only one true and living God. This one divine being has eternally existed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity is equally God, sharing all the divine attributes and the same divine nature. Distinct in relationship and function, yet equal in power and glory. Each member of the Trinity thinks, acts, feels, speaks, and relates, because each is a person and not an impersonal force, infinitely perfect in holiness, truth, and love.
About Jesus
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, and the second person of the Trinity. Truly God, He became truly man, having two distinct natures fully united in one person. He lived a perfect life among us, died on the cross for our sins, rose again to make us right with God, and will come again in glory and judgment.
About Humanity
We believe that God created us, both male and female, in His own image, and for His own glory. Therefore, we affirm that every human being from conception to death is to be recognized as equally human and worthy of dignity, value, respect and protection. We believe that all people are sinners by nature and choice, falling short of God’s standard and glory. Therefore, all people are by nature alienated from God, and are incapable of regaining a right relationship with Him through their own efforts.
About Salvation
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way for the forgiveness of sin. We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Salvation cannot be earned, it is a gift God freely gives to anyone and everyone who believes.
About the Church
We believe the Church is the body of people who have been saved by grace through faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The body of Christ, of which He is head, is unified and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are called to organize under qualified leadership, observe the sacraments of baptism and Communion, fulfill the great commandment and the great commission, in obedience to Scripture with the help of the Holy Spirit. We believe the Church exists to glorify God by loving Him, loving people, and making disciples of Jesus.
About Eternity
We believe that our eternal destination of either heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. Those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of judgment. We believe in the personal, physical, and visible return of Jesus Christ to the earth. He will consummate His Kingdom and we will proclaim the glory of God, who makes all things new.
