Ephesians 5:25-33 | “Marriage in the Image of God” (pt.2)

Getting to Know You:

1. Name one of your favorite movies and one book you would recommend.

Going Deeper:

2. Biblical love is an act of the will, accompanied by emotion, that leads to action on behalf of it's object. How does this differ from cultural ideas of love? How does thinking about love in this way impact your view of love in the context of marriage?

3. In what ways does understanding marriage as a community of love shape how we live out the gospel in our families? Discuss the statement: "Marriage is designed to be another expression & expansion of the very character and nature of God."

4. Tim Keller said,

“The common horizon the husband and wife look towards is the throne, and the holy, spotless, and blameless nature we will have. Here’s what it means to fall in love… It is to look at another person and get a glimpse of the person God is creating and to say, ‘I see who God is making you and it excites me! I want to be part of that. I want to partner with you and God in the journey you are taking to His throne. Ands when we get there, I will look at your magnificence and say, I always knew you could be like this. I got a glimpse of it on earth, but now look at you!’"

How does this quote impact your view of love and marriage? How can spouses actively participate in the journey of each other's spiritual growth? How does this perspective on marriage challenge the notion of love being purely based on current emotions or circumstances?
